market research Australian Mum via webinar

This month, we are excited to introduce you to Emily Douglas, our fabulous Client Operations & Marketing Executive. Read on to get to know her and her secret talents, her approach to building relationships and get a sneak peek into the campaigns she’s been working on at the moment.

PS – If you have your own superpowers to add to our amazing team, check out our latest role HERE.

1. How long have you been part of the Mumpower family?

My first day was Valentine’s Day so I’ll always remember it!

2. What’s been the most surprising part about working at Mumpower?

How effective and supportive the environment is when you have flexible work arrangements. My previous role was a very strict 9-5:30 in-office CBD location that did not have the tools to support remote work, so it is fantastic to have the ability to work from home, go into the office when needed, collaborate over Teams from multiple sites. This might be the norm for a lot of people now, but for me it was a fantastic improvement and I’m surprised at how much I like it!

3. Describe the culture.

We’re a small, collaborative and passionate team that challenge each other to be creative. We’re customer-driven and always learning, and never afraid to try something new.

4. What’s been the most interesting project or task you have been exposed to?

I’m not sure whether I can be the first to announce this .. but we are going to be releasing our very own Podcast VERY soon! That’s all I’ll say, except – Stay Tuned.

5. Since working at Mumpower which brand/product have you got to know more that you had no idea the impact they make to improving #MumLife?

I have always enjoyed ironing (it’s true – put the TV on, have a glass of wine, quiet and alone time – bliss) but since working with Russell Hobbs and seeing all the wonderful how-to content that was created for their new 2-in-1 Steamer Supreme I pushed for the ultimate Mother’s Day present and my goodness – I’m converted!

5. At Mumpower, our ethos and value system is built around nurturing strong relationships with brands, with Influencers, with Mum Shoppers, with each other.  What is your approach to building relationships?

I’ve always believed that open and honest communication leads to long lasting partnerships. I see so many benefits in finding out the ‘why’, working together to find mutually beneficial solutions, and growing together, long term.

6. Describe your job in three words.

Diverse, impactful, unique.

7. How did you get into the marketing industry?

With a long career in the travel industry halted by Covid-19 (and pregnancy!) I was prompted to make a long-awaited and much-needed change. Mumpower’s values of sharing information and fostering connections aligned with my own, and the nurturing and flexible work style suits me perfectly. I have been able to put my many years of people, product and account management and practical skills into a new industry and niche that spoke perfectly to me – with surprising parallels!

8. What would people be surprised to know about you?

I’m missing two bones in my body – could be genetics, could be a great story – I’ll never tell!

9. What is your secret talent?

Multitasking. Reading a book while blow-drying my hair while playing Duplo with my daughter? Easy.

10. What is the best meal you’ve ever had?

While it is ultimate ‘look at me, I’m a tourist’ dish, Fondue with potatoes and pickles on the top of Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland washed down by cherry liquor – unbeatable.

11. What is the best thing about working with a Mum-centric company?

It takes one to know one 😊 It’s so lovely to work in the company of beautiful people that are passionate equally about their unique careers, home life and individual pursuits. Both our Mum-Influencers and Mum-Shopper networks truly understand the highs and lows of everyday #mumlife and are the greatest resource to connect to brands who believe in and trust the power of this buying group.

12. What hashtags best describe you?

#foodie #honestyspeaks #raisingaprincess

13. How others at Mumpower describe Emily.

“Emily has an ability to dig beneath the surface to discover hidden opportunities and makes things happen. As soon as you meet Emily, you are immediately stuck by her warmth and friendliness followed by her intelligence and thoughtfulness. You want Emily both at your dinner table – and the boardroom.”
