From preschoolers to high schoolers, it seems kids never outgrow the habit of losing clothes and lunchbox essentials. That’s where Hippo Blue comes in. They provided a swag of fantastic personalised eat and drink goodies to the Mumpower team, for their families to put to the test in return for honest reviews from the harshest of little critics!
Growth Marketer Allira is Mum to a fiercely independent 3.5 year old, who very carefully choose her own designs, selecting Rainy Rainbow for her Everyday Essentials Labels Pack, Insulated Food Jar and All Smiles for her yellow Lunch Bag, to keep her teal Bento Snack Box cool till it’s time to tuck in!
So, did it pass the Mumpower test?
Bento Snack Box RRP$18 – “I love that this is small enough for my daughter to pack her own snacks for the day! Easy to open, yet surprisingly tight seal. The little dip compartment is her favourite feature and doesn’t leak on the other dry foods. Fits perfectly into the lunch bag too so I can keep things cool if I need to. Then I can just put it in the dishwasher and it’s ready for the next day!”
Everyday Essentials Pack RRP$60 – “The stickiest labels I have ever had! I had been using another brand, but they simply started peeling off in the first handwash and I was getting through a pack too quickly… these ones are stuck like glue! My daughter loves labelling her own things now so it’s great that I can leave a sheet for her to choose from and add onto new books or toys that she takes to childcare.”
Insulated Food Jar RRP$35 – “I actually use this one more than my daughter! Perfectly sized for lunch (even if I have to share it!) and really does keep it hot and most importantly, doesn’t leak. The neck isn’t narrow so when my daughter does use it, she can easily get the food out without too much mess.”
Insulated Lunch Bag RRP$30 – “I underestimated how good a ‘good’ lunch bag can be! It’s opened and closed about 100 times a day, so you need one that is good quality (including the zip and handle!) and keeps it all cool. Can easily be thrown into a backpack or carried on its own so it’s super handy.”
Another superstar Growth Marketer Jen has three kids all the cause of countless trips to the school’s lost property pile. After much consideration her youngest Leo chose the shark design for his teal Bento Lunch Box, Feeling Fierce design (love this name) for his blue Lunch Bag and Game-On for a new Library Bag. Jen also tested the Name Stamp, which has been a game changer.
So does having these personalised essentials help the family belongings return each day?
Insulated Lunch Bag RRP$30 – “Wow this thing is BIG!! It is roomy enough to fit not only the Bento Lunch Box, but plenty of space to include additional containers, for when that afternoon ‘I’m starving’ moment kicks in. What’s really clever is the sneaky little pocket, designed to hold the ice block to keep his lunch cold without the condensation.”
Bento Lunch Box RRP$55 – “So there’s lunch boxes and then there’s a Hippo Blue Lunch Box! This surpasses the quality of ANY lunchbox used before in our house. Easy open tabs for little fingers and removable trays for quick clean ups, without the need to wash the entire lunchbox. The personalised shark design disk can be switched out for $10 in a new design for him or another one of my kids. Win, win for this happy Mum!
Library Bag RRP$32 – “In Leo’s class all the library bags are put in one tub so there are a lot of unexplained disappearances. This one is a boomerang. Large enough to hold picture books as well as multiple chapter books, the double draw string is easy to use and durable to stand up to robust treatment from this busy boy.”
Name Stamp RRP$40 – “Arriving just in time for school camp, this handy little labeller has been working overtime! Pre-inked and ready to go, you can be creative and select an icon from over 28 designs, or keep blank with just a surname like we did. Say goodbye to smudged handwriting and hello to clear, and permanent personalisation that stays put after washing.”
Now to our final reviewer, Client Ops & Marketing Executive Emily, who also has a 3.5 year old daughter (we really did test these products on the toughest critics!). Don’t be deceived by her sweet smile – she’s not afraid to tell us what she thinks when it comes to daycare-approved gear! Of course Eve selected rainbow purple everything for her Bento Lunch Box, Drink Bottle and Name Stamp and was so excited when her delivery arrived, that she slept with her drink bottle that night!
Did they pass the daycare test?
Bento Lunch Box RRP$55 – “As this was her first EVER lunchbox, she was desperate to fill it up with her favourite (beige!) snacks. With plenty of space, and easy removal of the clear trays for washing, this made a Mum dreading ‘lunch box life’ very happy. The best part about this lunchbox is that when a certain picky pre-schooler decides she’s over rainbows or purple, we can easily switch out the disk for something new.”
Drink Bottle Piccolo RRP$35 – “From chewed-through straws to name stickers constantly falling off, mechanisms failing in the wash causing leaks and of course, completely vanishing, we have been looking for that unicorn (or rainbow!) that really delivers. Eve was thrilled with her matching set, the perfect size and shape for little hands.”
Name Stamp RRP$40 – “I’ve been quite happy with wrap-around name stickers for the last few years (no ironing required!) as even if they eventually fall off, she’s likely grown out of that particular item anyway! I’m now a convert. Eve was so excited to name each and every item of clothing in her wardrobe and could manage it all by herself – another win for a busy Mum! So far, no fading and no lost clothing. Love it.”
